My girls were sick this week. And whiney and clingy. You've heard it. You get it.
My kids (and teacher husband) have a lot of Fridays without school. Today was one of them. Brant went with the older two boys on a church youth camp out. (Don't worry, they were staying in a lodge).
I had a plan for the day, but of course with two whiney/clingy girls, and three other kids, sometimes things don't always go as planned.
So it was a long day.
I whined about it a little to my family on Instagram as I put the girls to bed at 6:30! (They fell asleep pretty quickly too!)
And can you believe it!? My sister-in-law has been doing this for TWO WEEKS! My brother (her husband) is a doctor and was working a rotation out of town.
I'm quite sure I would die. (Or at least someone would...)
So I decided to stop being a whiney baby (since we already have enough of those in this house)! I got down to business, ready to focus and read a few journal articles for my homework. But guess what!?
Anna threw up in her bed! It got all over in her hair! And on her blanket! (Deep breaths! Thanks for the reminder Kayla!)
You've heard the saying, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade?" Tonight I'm sticking with, "When life kicks you down, just go to bed and try again in the morning."
But truly, thinking about my hard day and my sister-in-law's frequent hard days, just reminds me that everybody faces tough things. Even each day we face tough things.
And besides deep breathing, the one thing that we absolutely MUST do is to get up the next morning and try again.
We say our prayers. We make a new plan. And we do it again. That's the only option.
But thank goodness Brant and the boys will be home tomorrow!
You never know how much you need your 10-year-old's help with his little sisters until he's gone for a day!
Oh my, no fun being mom with clingy kiddos. Throw up is the worst!! You have my sympathy. We sang, I'm so glad when Daddy comes home A LOT! When Paul was working Swing shifts.
ReplyDeleteUgh! I can't even imagine if Brant had a hard schedule! Sometimes I wonder how we survived when he was coaching... 😳
DeletePuts you back to when your okder boys were younger, eh?! Haha I love that Payson is finally getting old enough to get the baby out of his bed, and help with his own party.
ReplyDeleteYes! So much so! I vaguely remember those miserable days when I didn't have any older kids! 😜 Okay, they weren't ALL miserable, but it's so nice to have older kids!
