Everything is cancelled.
Before I went to bed last night I vowed to stay off the internet today. I knew I would see and read way too much about the Coronavirus.
Of course I failed. Though I did manage to only catch bits and pieces of all the cancellations.
We stepped outside to walk Oliver to his preschool bus. Would you believe the sun was shining and the world was at peace?
When we got home I saw two emails about cancellations. Then got a phone call about another.
When Brant called from the school at lunch he mentioned two more. I joked that everything was cancelled.
But it was still early in the day.
NBA. NHL. High school basketball tournament. NCAA tournament.
Church.
I don't want to claim that I knew this was coming. But it almost seems like I could feel it would come.
I don't think I'm the only one either.
And although part of me feels frustrated and annoyed with all the cancellations (even the missionaries cancelled dinner tonight! Though for a totally unrelated reason...) Another part of me recognizes this as a chance to really get back to basics with what is important.
Kind of a forced focus.
Even Disneyland is cancelled. 🤷
I'm already imagining up ways to run homeschool for weeks if needed. I'm thinking up lists for activities and family focused fun.
And now I'm pondering how to make the most of our Sundays at home.
I know it won't last forever. But I'm optimistic that we can turn a scary, negative thing into a positive, memorable experience.
And I'm glad we have a big freezer.
There's SO much going on. I turned my phone off for a concert tonight (probably the last auditorium I'm in for awhile...) and when I turned it back on it blew up with even more announcements and things to catch up on!
ReplyDeleteI also saw an ad for cheap flights. Maybe we'll just take a little trip (to Omaha-mom and dad!) if the kids have school canceled too....
Guess you guys suddenly have six weeks no school!? It's pretty crazy. But hopefully will be good to slow down the spread...
DeleteYou've been prepared for this, we all have been prepared. Now we get to work the Plan. Our Food Storage isn't with us here, but it will sustain my Sister. We are grateful for the Prophet's directives through the years.
ReplyDeleteHaha. I love that your food storage will sustain Aunt Roma! You will certainly be blessed anyway!
